Term 4 Update

Hello. For thing update post, id like to talk about some basic stuff like the poetry we have done, the learning we have done on Padlet, and other items

Poetry: For two tasks we have done, we have had to write some lines to summarize us, “I come from” poem is a try of poem where you write some memories that make us, us. We also did a “I am poem” another basic poem that has us repeat multiple idea’s of what we are, and that things we feel and think.

Manawatu Estuary: We have done some learning about the nearby estuary, like what inhabits the estuary, what makes a estuary an estuary in the first place and even how long it makes for them to be formed

Art: For art we have done a art piece based on Piet Mondrian, a type of minimalist artist  that uses primary colors and black lines to make a beautiful piece of art.

Thanks for reading.

Update [Week 7 Term 3]

Hello, in class, we have been doing a lot of different things, and I would like to share them to you all.

(1): We have been doing Kandinsky art, a type of art that is known over the world for being abstract and weird looking, and sometimes his art even looks like something a kid would draw, yet his name alone makes his artwork cost so much, and I find it interesting due to the abstract features implemented into his artwork

(2) Yet another piece of art, we got to design our own piece of personal wear, shoes, t-shirt and hat, I found it interesting due to the fact we haven’t done anything anywhere close to this in the past, and it was fun looking for a logo to model with and finding unique design.

That’s all really, it’s been a great term so far, and I hope it’s been a good term for you as well, but if i can ask, how is your year going?

6/8 class TERM 2 activities

In Cobalt (My maths group) I have been learning about time and how to appropriately read clocks. It is quite interesting and easy, but somehow hard to learn. And we have learned about Mode, Mean and Range. We have also been trying to learn about measurements. In literacy, we have been reading and watching videos about World War 1 and how it had an impact on the people of New Zealand and why it’s important. we learned this because ANZAC day was recently .We have also had an opportunity to play a Maori sport called Ki O Rahi. Me and a couple of my friends have been playing, and I am learning how to play again. I personally play it to become stronger and to learn how to work better with people as a team. We made a Canva about WW1, A infograph. facts and our wording is key it was quite fun, and a good turn from the intense learning we have done recently. We also did it because of ANZAC day, in Mr Bakers words, “We enjoyed the holiday, so we need to respect the people who died for it”. We have also made some perspective ANZAC art, with a 3d looking fence with barbed wire, crosses, and we are glueing soldiers into our book, i personally have been trying to get a stormy day as my background, smudging the pencil into the page, making a dark day. And this is technically learning, so we have been learning how to describe and write blog posts, and how to merge sentences with conjunctions, FANBOYS: For, And, Nor, But, Or, So.

I enjoyed learning about New Zealand’s part in WW1, and how it affected people, Ki O Rahi, about its story, how its played, and what the point of the game is.

I found nothing really challenging, it was all simple and easy to understand, everything Mr Baker says is super simple and easy to follow.

👍

If I did this activity again I wouldn’t change anything. I liked what I did and I have 100% pride in what I do because I put my heart into my work.

Have you ever studied WW1? and if so, what was your most interesting fact about it? Ever played Ki O Rahi, if so, did you like it, who did you play with, what made you play, why do/did you play?

Over the year reflection

Term 1

The highlights of term 1 are going to the beach to have some fun we couldn’t swim but it was fine overall a good start to the year, at least we could socialize, didn’t learn much tho

Term 2

This was a great part of the year, i loved it because we got to do some house activities, tug of war and my favorite was kio-Rahi, It was a fun sport. I learnt to stay active and don’t give up over this term, it was my best term, i preformed the best at least, i think.

Term 3

Not bad not good this term was more focused on work, the only good thing about it was boxing, and maybe the school production. Boxing helped me get stronger and overall helped with my health, i even got to take some time off work to do it, but the school production was a mess, it had a anti-climatic ending, it kinda just ended, it was fun while it was there but i didn’t learn or do much even though i had a main part.

Term 4

Also known as the term that everyone either hates or loves. Love it because you basically have no work due to the year almost ending or hate it because it exists, and it’s a waste of time, we did basically no work, it flew past. Taking no time at all get to the last couple days.

Anyway thats the rundown of out year, how did your year go?

The Social Camp

Camp was great for a 4 day camp, the first day we arrived, i got my bags and threw them to the left side, everyone else did, I then played some pool till my friends arrived.

After about 30 mins we were all there and we got shown our cabins. But we didn’t care people started moving cabins and Mr baker didn’t care, Anyway day 2 was fun but i ran out of energy first we got in the bus and chilled for about 30 mins till we got to a farm a cow poo infested farm, but i didn’t care. i ran up to these big blue balls called zorbs. I hopped in and i had water all over me. Luka and Tyson hopped in aswell and we got pushed down the huge hill. But i was sliding so fast i reached the top and fell straight on Luka’s knee.

After all that for about 2 hours we got changed and hopped in the bus again and went to cloud nine. I didn’t find it that fun i was just playing tag with the boys. But that we really all for day 2,

Day 3 was adrenaline forest. It’s a set of huge tree’s connected by different obstacles, they asked for people that weren’t scared of heights so me and Riley ran over. It was a basic tutorial on how to clip and unclip your belts and how to use your zip-line-hook. But after that they told us we couldn’t go to the highest level (Level 6) Because we had to do the others, and we also had to start at 3, So me and Riley ran over to 3, And i ran up the ladder and clipped on to our first obstacle but it was boring so ill just skip to lvl 4 for you. It level was mainly focused on balance. There were rings and spinning poles. Yet still me and Riley pushed though till about the end we had 3 obstacles left. But they hadn’t been repaired in what looked like years. So Riley ditched out and i had to push on solo. It was hard i pushed though and had no energy throughout the last one. and we had to go home. And day 4 was a drag nothing really good happened.
